Rathi, India 60 Years of Manufacturing Excellence

The First Rathi factory rolled into production on 28th February 1942. It was the birth of one of India's most trusted brands of steel and the begining of a spectacular success story.

From a single rolling mill with a capacity of just 369 kgs a day in 1942 Rathi has grown into a steel giant with a total installed capacity of more than 1,000,000 tons per annum in 2005.

Today, more than 50% of the steel used in construction in North India rolls out of Rathi factories.

Infact, Rathi produces almost 6% of India's total steel bars^* and has a vast network of over 600 dealers across the country.

Rathi's Many Firsts

For more than 60 years, RATHI has continued to set the standards for excellence and innovation in the Steel Industry with many firsts.

• FIRST to win exclusive rights from thermoQuench^® ISTAG Steel Corporation, Germany to manufacture and market its ThermoQuench^® Steel in North India.
• FIRST to produce thermoQuench^® Steel in India.
• FIRST to set new product parameters. With its extra RATHI strength, RATHI reduces Steel consumption by 25% and reduces cost by up to 40%
• FIRST to set up Automatic Rolling Mill in North India with automation of entire production process.
• FIRST to install Natural Gas Fired Reheating Furnaces
• FIRST to set up Mini Steel Plant in North India
• FIRST to introduce the concept of Branded Retailing of RATHI Steel through exclusive RATHI Steel Shops
